Do you know where your fresh vegetables are grown?  Do you know what growing practices were used?  Is the freshness and safety of the vegetables you feed your family important to you?  Then CSA is for you.
What is a CSA ?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. The basic idea of CSA farming is a cooperative relationship between the farmer and his customers. Based on an annual commitment to one another, community members provide a pre-season payment to purchase a “share” (aka a "membership or "subscription") of the season’s harvest. The member then receives a weekly box of a wide variety of fresh vegetables through the growing season, harvested at the peak of ripeness and flavor.

What does it mean to be a CSA Member ?

In signing up, you dedicate yourself to being our customer for the season. This provides our farm with a secure market for all our growing efforts. The farm, in turn, commits to providing an abundant, diverse and quality array of vegetables. The worth of a "share" is linked not only with the value you place upon eating fresh, locally grown food and knowing who grows your food, but also the sustainable and organic methods of food production. We offer an outstanding selection of vegetables grown especially for your family, harvested fresh for you on the day of your pick up. You’ve heard of the benefits of buying local – now we’re offering you a great way to enjoy vegetables grown right here on our farm in Cecil County and have the opportunity to make an investment in these locally grown foods, which in turn helps to keep Maryland green!

We will do our best to provide you with a bounty of fine produce each week. The premise of a CSA is that the CSA Member, through the vegetables, shares in our farms experiences of nature. Mother Nature can reap rewards of substantial growth for all or weather difficulties may alter a crop and you may see differences in the sizes of produce throughout the season. We may also substitute items, as shortages may occur in the natural growing process. Refunds and/or any remaining balances on a members account is non-refundable and does NOT carry over into the following year .

What types of shares are there ?

We offer 2 types of "Shares" for individuals and families to determine what the best fit is, based on their produce needs: A SMALL Share for $400 and a LARGE Share for $600.

What organic produce is available ?

We're offering a delicious assortment of vegetables jam-packed full of nutrients. From a bounty of fresh-leafy greens to a variety of colorful root crops. You will see quite a variety of Greens like Gourmet Lettuces, Kale, Swiss Chard, Arugula, Spinach & Mustard Greens + Beans, Summer Squash, Peppers, Jalapenos. Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Zucchini and some tasty rooted crops like radishes & beets + an assortment of specialty crops too!

Is delivery available to my home or business ?

Because we offer all CSA members to choose from an array of vegetables at our farms U-Pick Market, delivery is not available at this time.

When can I pickup my produce ?

All CSA Members have access to the farms "U-Pick Farm Market" during the farms operating hours on TUESDAY and THURSDAY, between 2pm - 6pm, during the 20 week season. You choose the day (based on the farms public operating hours) you want to come out. You are not committed to a specific day and weekly pickup's (like most CSA programs). You can choose to come out weekly, bi-weekly, etc.. You pick & choose as much produce as you need. The "discounted" cost of produce is then deducted from your pre-season payment. It's that simple!

How long is the CSA Season ?

The 2018 CSA Season is 20 weeks, beginning June 12th thru Aug 9th, then after a short break to prepare for fall harvest, the pickups begin again on Aug 28th thru Nov 8th.

Where can I get information on how to prepare my food I receive each week ?

Our website links directly to Yummly that provides a vast array of great recipes for all the produce from our farm.

Can I make crop suggestions for the farm ?
Absolutely! We enjoy hearing from our members especially about new unique plants to grow for food!

Can I split my share with a family member/friend ?
Yes, but it is up to you to figure out the details of picks up and who gets what each week. Please be sure to inform us who will be sharing in your membership to avoid any confusion.

Do CSA Members volunteer on the farm ?

Though it's not required, we welcome members to join us in our work. People who have volunteered here often report that they get more out of the experience than they give! Being in the fresh air, outdoors, working in the soil, plants and food gives them great satisfaction and joy! If you are interested in volunteering we would love to use your energy and talents. Fill out our Volunteer Time & Talent Survey and EMAIL US.
